Front Post Replacement

Next thing on the list is the front post in the entrance way. The base was set on concrete which rotted away overtime. After I removed the old post, I noticed it was made up of 3x 2by4 and a 2by6 to form a “6x6” post, but the numbers just doesn’t match up… Also, up to 10in from the base of the old post was totally rotted out, Good thing it was removed.

I had to patch up the concrete base, then install a 6x6 post base that will protect the wood from direct ground contact. The 5/8in anchor bolt is massive…

I picked up a 6x6x8ft the day before, stained it to make it match the original color. The installation went very smoothly, the new post slid in without any issue. Really like the result, now that thing is not moving anywhere :)
